Title: pretty funny story Post by: GaryBavarski on December 03, 2005, 05:20:24 am I did something pretty funny when I was a kid in highschool, probably about 14 or 15...
I looked up the area code for Dustin's city/state (I was living in NY at the time) got his phone number and called him, to ask him something about the game. I have no idea what it was, I think it was about registering or something. (Even though there's no way I could have registered since I was poor, haha.) But I remember when he answered, I was all like "this is THE Dustin Nulf?" like he was a celebrity or something. Haha :) That's pretty embarrassing, but I guess I liked the game a lot, and since I had a 286, I couldn't play much else. Lol. At least you were young. I pretty much did a fairly similar thing when I started working as the same game company he did. :) Dustin still gets pretty weirded out when I mention that if it weren't for him and his game I might not have ever wanted to get into the games industry! I've even threatened to add a Dustin Nulf shrine to this place, but somehow he convinces me not to. Ah, well, maybe next year. Yeah it was the best door game ever, no doubt. :D What other games have you worked on? Title: pretty funny story Post by: Tarix on December 03, 2005, 07:56:55 am Quote from: "GaryBavarski" What other games have you worked on? Professionally: Monty Python's Meaning of Life, Daikatana, Triple Play 2001, Triple Play Baseball, Half-life 2: Decay (PS2), Spiderman: The Movie Game, Kelly Slater Pro Surfer, Minority Report, Spiderman 2, Ultimate Spiderman, and Call of Duty: Big Red One. I think that's a pretty completely list. None of my door games ever really got released except a little continue the story door that I based off a similar door on an Apple II system. In my free time I do little projects like this or stuff completely unrelated to computers and the internet. That's pretty much the best game out right now, besides OOIS of course. Haha. Are you familiar at all with day of defeat? I mean have you ever played it or heard of it? I used to play some "continue the story" doors - those are fun stuff. Title: pretty funny story Post by: Tarix on December 04, 2005, 10:43:38 am Quote from: "GaryBavarski" Wow, nice resume! :) cod2? While it is called CoD2 its not the PC/Xbox360 game. I did play Day of Defeat briefly back in the day. It's been years and years though. I haven't played the new version at all. Title: pretty funny story Post by: GaryBavarski on December 06, 2005, 03:47:04 am What platform then if not PC/xbox?
Nice! I still play the original DoD. The new version's gameplay is pretty "cripple" - they ripped out a bunch of the things that made the original so great. Oh well. Though for that game in particular I only worked on the GC version. Title: pretty funny story Post by: GaryBavarski on December 06, 2005, 11:58:58 pm That's awesome, must be rewarding to work on such popular titles. Maybe just as rewarding as working on OOII/OOIS. :) Hahah.
