His OOII games been locked up for quite awhile... months if I recall correct.

  I also love  fireing off the rockets and watching the  terrain change as it hits its target.  Now and then I've played on mapsets where there was no place to put a base because of the landscape. Fireing a missle  was the only way to create one. I use basically the same method as dscribed except I go by the keyboard, left to right.  eg: qwert  yuiop  etc.
 
I usually have at least a 50% launch.. except for one day when I had 6 duds in a row before a successfull launch.  I made sure my target was not in range of AFB's Prison, the oracle, etc..  I've never had 6 duds in a row before. Was frustrateing

I've played both night and day.. and the lag on your system simply drove me bonkers. It was the main reason I haven't truely been active 
on the Headquarters BBS for the last coupla years. I still play OOII on perhaps as many as 15 - 20 other BBSes. I have only about 4 or 5 listed in my "slow/stuttery systems"  game notes. I also mainly use windows telnet to play. I saw no difference on your system useing the OOII term prog.

What would really be fun is to gather enough players to have a round of tourniment play.. That would bring back some memories

Exciter was asking me about monsters to edit into the roster for his recent re-set OOII game.  That kinda got me thinking of an old OOII game I played on Nero's Bloody Vengance back in the heyday of BBs'es..  in that game I got to beat up on a revolveing bunch of real people related monsters.  I got to bash on Tonya Harding.. Put Nixon into the ground.. Kill off various types of salesmen and bill collectors.. Etc.  The point is, He's takeing requests.. If you have an idea for a monster.. pitch it here or e-mail it to him direct, or in game.. 
 
I'd rather it be here. I'd love to see what ya'll come up with for fun monsters to kill. 

  Exciter has done it up good on this new re-set. He's created a totally new map to play on as well as editing a few monsters. Want to  destroy Obama..?  Kill Dave Chappellle.??  Here's your chance.

  Ha!.. now I'm going to haveta listen to a Lermnod to see if it talks about Hawk. (Those are indeed level 5 mobs.. not AFB critters.). As far as killing me goes.. errr.. well... I was a raw recruit back in those days. I mapped by hand and used color crayons to pretty up my maps   I think Just bout everybody killed me then... but untill the other day when I had a nuke dropped on my head,.. I think its been a few years since a player has taken me out.
 
  I went looking for my old game reg yesterday for the editoo codes. I stumbled across those old maps instead. Gave me a chuckle reading my notes on the .998 game.

yep yep..  Ole Tom  started a simmilar game (which we will never mention here except in the most derogatory of terms..) We can also credit Him with being the first person to get into the bad player list That the game used to have coded inside.. (Dunno if thats still there. I haven't looked in years.) 
 
Suprax.. I used to call long distance to play on your board. You and I have even teamed up breifly. I ran by "The Mad Dwarf" back then. It wasn't till 94' or so that I slipped thru the looking glass and swaped to DamFrawd.

Heh.. I know I know this.. but it ain't springing to mind. All I can think of is the monster that tells ya not to belive the boasting Hawk.  I think I'll avoid a slap to the forehead by getting me a V-8 now.. Then when it's answered I'll just smile and grunt out a "duh"

On another note .. slow action speed is easily compensated for on most BBSes.. You just have to make a few adjustments and you can still kill at a pace that others will wonder at. Or at least so I've heard.. I'm not sure if I count as one of those hardened vets that weekly (or so) skin the big Lizzard    Perhaps I dally with the queen too much or something. Hrmmmmm
 
Oh well.. off to the wastelands.  Shockles to tingle.. Lez-Mots to taunt..

If when you try to access a base and it says the base has been abandoned.. That means the player that previously owned it has been a slacker by not logging into the game for a long time. All thier bases are up for grabs and the first to find them get to plunder away. This time frame is set by the sysop and varies from BBS to BBS. I've been waiting for two+ years for one BBS I play on to call a bunch of bases "abandoned" 
 
I personelly like finding an old game of OOII on a BBs and seeing if those that played before were competant or not going by what they left behind. Kinda fun.  If you claim the base. It's yours.  Not being able to pick up the money/crystals is indeed a bug. This is the right place to point it out though.. more or less
