Operation: Overkill BBS Door Game / Bugs and Annoyances / Re: Being booted from the game

I bumped into this same bug about a month ago. Had 2 players locked up in the same base yet again. I think it is related to that last item bug. Just the other day I was booted after picking up spmething from my base on 5. When I loged back in I was reset to the beginning of the previous log in. Lost 3 mil in crystals I spent in the AFB. Lost the stats and weapons both... hrrumph DF

Operation: Overkill BBS Door Game / Recruit Chat / Nessus and Larven Mapsets

Howdy Folks.. a few years back I heard mention that Nessus and Larven were mapsets that were created by a player. That player never got to play on these mapsets. Well Awhile back I talked the Sysop of the Cave BBs to use Nessus and Xcalibre killed the big leezard there recently. So I asked the sysop to use Larven for this new re-set. I've forgotten who asked to play on these, but there is a two day old re-set waiting for players there now. I plot to log in sometime this next week and take a poke at it myself See ya in the wastelands chummers.. DF **an incarnation of a Mad Dwarf**

I've played Nessus, but it was a long time ago. I don't recall how deep I got. Larven looks interesting but still on the easy side. Both are good mapsets though. The next BBs I kill OK on I'll suggest Nessus terrain and post if the sysop puts it up DF

There are a a few good mapsets out there being played by a few folks. I've been working too much overtime to keep up with all the games I have a foot into. IOt won't last much longer though and then I'll be back into the swing of things. DF

The Link game has been re-set. It is now running Warzone terrain. I also have recently run into a simmilar setup with ooii being shared by several systems thru DoorParty. If we don't want our wastelands to die off folks need to get out there and play. DF

There is an program for OOII that lets you create your own terrain as well as monsters. I know of two BBses that are running mapsets that their sysops created. (Jump and Ducross terrains) One of those boards has created a few new monsters. (I love killing Barrak Obama on that board.) I believe the program is called OOEdit.exe but its been many years since I have taken a poke at using it. I noted today that you installed 1.20. I look forward to playing a brand new mapset and fighting new monsters. I'll be keeping an eye out on your board. DF

Hi all. Apparently someone out there has a link server that bbs'es are hooked up with that has OOII as one of the door games. I have run into approx 15ish separate systems that are linking a single mapset to play in. I just Killed OK in order to get the sysop to get rid of the vidland mapset. If anybodys interested I can post some of the systems to log into. DF

a coupla years ago telnet://bbs.memphistw.org went down. It had a brand new mapset (Ducross) . I had to go back to mapping old-school style Every now and than I take a poke to see if its back up.. and tonight I was successful! I quickly loged into OOII and the mapset is still there. I have not fully mapped it so now I get a chance to do so DF

I took a peek at the game a coupla months ago and I seem to be hooked. I've even let a few of the bazillion OOII games I'm playing slide a bit. Its a cool game that is made to not suck too much time daily, but it takes awhile to get around in to accomplish anything. I disagree with Dustin though. There are alot of stories abounding in this game. They are player driven though. The level of roleplaying is quite high, with feuds and PK'ing a normal bit of business. Its also an old game, at least 10yrs old. Compared to OOII, movement is quite similar, as is the random creature encounters to kill. You can track them down to help find them though. The gamemap is HUGE though (compared to OOII) so even though there are others playing as well as yourself in real time, you don't run into others much (except in gathering places.) Their forums are not very active, so its really hard to see how many folks are playing, as you can't see who's loged into the game anywhere. If anybody else wants to drop by and take a look at it, DF is based in York. I also have a pirate charactor based at the shipwreck. DF

I wouldn't mind seeing that DG. If you posted it here earlier, I probably read it. I am curious about the bugs part. I refuse to use bugs, but I like to understand what they do. Now and then I see someone that I can't see how they got to where they are game-timeline wise. I realize they could just be a better player than myself.... ow that hurt to say. But in hearing others experiences in the game I'm always up to learn. DF
